Monica grew up north of Boston where she started competitive swimming at the age of 8. Her parents say she really started swimming at 3 when they discovered she had too much energy for daycare. She focused solely on swimming in high school and was selected for national development camps which elevated her athletic background. Since then she’s been a lifelong lover of fitness as a lifestyle- not a means to an end.

After swimming for an NCAA division one team in college she moved to Boston and transitioned to coaching for the Northeastern University huskies while pursuing her doctoral degree. She fell in love with channeling her energy into coaching and instructing and acquired a deep understanding of sports physiology and athletic development. She started her instructor journey by getting certified to teach indoor cycling and taught for students at Northeastern. She’s passionate about using fitness to transform people’s minds and lives.

She now works as a pharmacist in the Boston area, is a wife to her high school sweetheart, and dog mom to her fur baby named Bora. While she isn’t working or teaching, she’s knee deep in the Boston fitness scene and you might catch her punching bags or crushing treads in her time off.

What’s one fun fact that few people know about you?

I am a terrible baker. Anything savory- I’ve got it, but sweets and treats are a no go. Donations kindly encouraged.

If you could use three words to describe your class, what would they be?

Empowering, passionate, sweaty

Why do you ride at The HB?

To make a better version of myself. I don’t think it matters whether you’ve taken 500 classes or it’s your first class, we all have room to improve and change. Everything I say during my classes comes from something I need to hear too- we’re in it together.
